AMERICAN Jerry Davis rolled a six-game series of 1,290 pinfalls to snatch the coveted 2015 Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (CETBA) “Bowler of the Year” crown at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center yesterday.
Davis, from Texas who is an active member of CETBA for two years scorched the oiled lanes by averaging 215 pinfalls per game.
He opened his title hunt on a slow note after an opening 167 but sizzled in the second and third frames with 220 and 224 pinfalls, respectively.
Aside from clinching the yearly title, Davis also walked away richer by P10,000 in cold cash.
Claiming the second spot in yesterday’s hotly-contested finals was Fred Torrequemada who rolled 1,284 pinfalls in six games, just six pins behind Davis. Baby Bacon rounded off the top three with 1,282 pinfalls.
Torrequemada pocketed P8,000 while Bacon took home P6,000.
Nestor Longcanaya finished in fourth spot with 1,254 pinfalls while Sonia Gakenholz placed fifth with 1,238 pinfalls.
Sixth to 10th placers in the year-ending tournament are: Ging Francisco (1,235), Noel Tanyu (1,229), Gretchen Tormis (1,227), Inday Aguilar (1,220) and Jake Yap (1,220). Aguilar placed higher than Yap for having a bigger handicap points.
