A policeman in Minglanilla town, south Cebu was accused of firing his gun a day after Central Visayas police personnel had the muzzles of their service firearms taped on Monday as part of the annual ritual to prevent indiscriminate firing during the holidays.
PO3 Louie Alalim, who is assigned at the PRO-7 headquarters as base policeman, was accused of pointing a gun at a man and firing four warning shots while he was drunk at 2:50 a.m. yesterday.
When members of the Minglanilla Police Station rushed to the area to check the incident Alalim was no longer around.
An empty shell of a 9mm caliber pistol was recovered in the area.
Complainant Lyndon Caparida told police that Alalim was drunk when he went to his house.
Caparida said the policeman pointed a gun at him and fired four warning shots using a 9mm pistol before hitting the windshield of his multicab.
“These are all allegations. We still have to verify the reports since we have yet to get his side of the story,” said Cañada.
According to his fellow policemen, Alalim did not report for work yesterday.
Supt. Renato Dugan, head of the Personnel and Human Resources and Development Division, said that if proven guilty, Alalim could face suspension at the least.
He said the accusations is considered a grave offense.
“Alalim had no past record or cases filed against him at the regional office. In fact, he was a trusted driver for some of our past regional directors,” said Dugan.
Alalim could face administrative and criminal complaints, Dugan said.
