A 25-YEAR-OLD man was killed while his 23-year-old cousin was wounded on Christmas Day in barangay Calamba, Cebu City.
Kerk Ivan Sollano succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head and a stab wound in the left eye.
Jenril Sollano sustained stab wounds in the back and chest.
Police said trouble broke out when Jenril’s father Oriel confronted a group of youngsters who were using a lantaka or home-made canon for revelry.
Oriel was walking on a bridge on P. del Rosario Street when he was startled by the blasts from the lantaka.
Oriel confronted Raulito Labiste, 20, but it was Wilbert Turno who punched him.
A tanod tried to smooth over the hostilities.
Oriel left but later returned to the area where the confrontation took place.
Oriel was accompanied by his son and other relatives including Kerk Ivan.
A melee then broke out that led to the fatal attack.
Labiste was arrested after the incident, while Turno remains at large.
