Call center agent admits to taking baby from mother

The 26-year-old call center agent admitted to reporters that she took the baby named Prince Niño from his mother at the government-run Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) last Monday.

Melissa Londres said she is sorry for what she had done.

“Amo mana gi-ampingan ang bata sa akong paris. Amo na siya gipalitan og gatas (We took care of the baby, we even bought him milk),” she tearfully told reporters while her mother hugged her at the cell of the regional Criminal Investigation Detection Group (CIDG-7).

Her mother Mary Jane said Melissa was afraid that her boyfriend Philip Winfred Almeria would leave her so she took the baby.

Melissa supposedly got pregnant but suffered a miscarriage.

Mary Jane said Melissa’s live-in partner was her first boyfriend.

The mother said her daughter stole the baby out of desperation.

Mary Jane said she hopes the parents would forgive her and not press charges against her in court.
