THE REIGNING Cesafi champions University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors evened up its record in the 1st Raul Cabanero Inter-Collegiate Basketball League after clobbering the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F), 91-73, Monday night at the Bulacao Sports Complex in Talisay City.
The Warriors have been on an up-and-down ride in this competition but managed to keep their head afloat with a balanced scoring effort led by their veteran trio of Cesafi Mythical Five forward Charles Pepito, Ian Ortega and Ian Tagapan.
Pepito, a relentless rebounding machine, scored 17 markers while Ortega and Tagapan added 12 and 11 markers, respectively.
Back-up guard Christian Maconocido and lefty center William Mcaloney combined for 19 to help buoy USC’s win-loss record to 2-2.
Lyndon Colina paced the Panthers, which fell to 1-1, with 17.
In the Inter-Sitio category, Upper Kabanayan outlasted Friendly Homes, 83-80.
