THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas Green Lancers continue to shine in the offseason as they nabbed their fifth win in a row in the 1st Raul Cabanero Inter-Collegiate Basketball League with an 83-64 shellacking of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation on Thursday night at the Bulacao Sports Complex in Talisay City.
High-leaping wingman Rey “The Flying Carpet” Suerte anchored the Green Lancers’ offense with 20 points as UV pushed their win-loss record to an immaculate 5-0. Former RP Youth Team member Leonard Santillan and big man Mike Macion were also vital parts of UV’s attack with 17 and 10 markers, respectively.
Speedy guard Clyde Avancena led the Panthers in scoring with 14.
In the Inter-Sitio class, Maharlika bested San Vicente, 59-47.
The games in this tournament are being made possible by the efforts of Bulacao Barangay Captain Raul Cabanero and councilors Banjo Abastillas, Darwin Cabanero and Agnes Lastimosa. The league is being supported by the Bulacao Barangay Council and being officiated by the Cebu Referees Associaton headed by Edwin Dejacto.
