Sinulog Open National bowling begins

THE MUCH-awaited 17th Sinulog Open National Tournament of the Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA)-Cebu and Kmanjaro Africa will kick off today at the Gaisano Bowlingplex in Barangay Banilad, this City.

Around a hundred bowlers from different bowling clubs, Philippine national team members and former national players will compete in the longest-running bowling tournament in Cebu.

Among the big names expected to compete are Philippine team members Jeff Carabeo and Rj Bautista. They are considered the top contenders in the coveted masters event that offers a top prize of P60,000.

There will also be 40 bowling teams competing in the team, doubles and singles events.

Cebu won’t be short in fielding its own top bets as veteran bowlers Jomar Jumapao, Marc Matias, Bonnie Solis and Clarence Tiu from the PRIMA Pasta Bowling Team will also be contending for the masters title.

More than P150,000-worth of cash prizes are up for grabs in the tournament.

Champions will receive the lion’s share of the prizes but a bowler who scores a perfect game will also walk away with a whopping P50, 000.

The top 10 finishers in the masters’ event will also receive cash prizes along with the top three in other categories.
