Policewoman’s mother, brother killed by lover

A lesbian shot and killed her live-in partner’s mother and brother, and injured another  before she was killed by responding policemen in Calape, Bohol on Wednesday night.

Maricel Ramos, 39, went on a shooting rampage after her 33-year-old live-in partner PO1 Rosalie Cuario did not return home.

The two lived in a rented house in Barangay Liboron, Calape, Bohol .

When she failed to contact Cuario through her phone, Ramos went to the policewoman’s family in nearby Barangay Ulbujan on Tuesday afternoon.

The family told Ramos that Cuario was not around and that they did not know her whereabouts, said PO1 Angelo Namang, investigator of the Calape Police Station.

At past 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Ramos visited again the house of Cuario’s family. When she saw Cuario’s elder brother Vicente, 51, outside the house, she asked him about Cuario’s whereabouts.

Namang said Vicente told Ramos that they had no idea because Cuario no longer visited them.

It was learned that Cuario was not also in good terms with her family.

But Ramos was unconvinced and instead shot Vicente in the right hand but the bullet went through his right chest.

Ramos then barged inside the house and fired a shot at the other brother of the policewoman identified as Joel, 46, who succumbed to a gunshot wound in the face.  Joel’s live-in partner and children were spared after they ran out of  the house.

But Joel’s and Vicente’s mother, Rosita, 72, who ran towards the room, was chased by the suspect who shot her in the forehead, killing her instantly.

Joel and Rosita were already dead when police arrived. Vicente, meanwhile, was treated in a hospital in Tagbilaran City.

Namang said they immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation and found Ramos outside the  rented house she shared with the policewoman.

She was still holding a 9mm caliber while using her cellphone when police arrived.

Namang said they told her to surrender, but the suspect instead pointed the gun at her head in some instances.

Namang said they tried to get closer but Ramos instead shot them.

Police returned fire and hit the suspect in the head twice.

Namang said they found messages in her cellphone and in white bond papers expressing her disappointment regarding the alleged affair of PO1 Cuario.  One message showed that she wanted Cuario to return home so they can fix their problems.

Namang said it seemed that Ramos got jealous after she suspected that Cuario was having an affair with someone else.

Namang said the messages even recalled their 11 years long relationship.

The suspect reportedly helped shoulder Cuario’s expenses when Cuario was still studying.

Cuario finished an education course at a local state university in Calape. She is a licensed teacher but she opted to enter the police force in 2011.

Cuario was assigned in Calape  last November 16, but was sent to Cebu City as part of the augmentation force for the Sinulog and the 51st International Eucharistic Congress.

But since then, Namang said Cuario did not anymore report back to work in the Calape police station and did not also show up after the killing of her brother and mother.
