Voters, who were present during last Wednesday’s public hearings discussing mall voting, were opposed to having to cast their votes in a mall.
The public hearings were held at the Pacific Mall and Insular Square in Mandaue City.
Lawyer Ferdinand Gujilde, Commission on Elections Cebu provincial officer, said out of the estimated 6000 voters informed of the hearing at the Pacific Mall, only 41 attended; and out of the 2,000 voters for the Insular Square hearing, only 50 voters were present.
He said that the voters present opposed mall voting because this would mean mall voting centers are farther than their old voting precincts located in schools.
