ONE of Cebu football’s powerhouses, the ERCO-BRO Football Club completed a grand slam in last Sunday’s 13th Thirsty Football Cup at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) football pitch.

ERCO-BRO FC successfully defended its men’s open title for three straight years after defeating archrival Leylam FC, 2-1,  in a thrilling penalty shootout in the finals.

It was sweet revenge for ERCO BRO FC as it lost to Leylam FC last year in the championship match of the men’s open division of the 17th Aboitiz Football Cup held at the same venue.

Garry Garciano was named MVP in the division for his stellar performance as ERCO BRO FC’s goal keeper.

In the women’s open division, the visiting Siliman United FC of Dumaguete City defeated Cebu’s very own San Roque Football Club (SRFC) Vets, 2-0, in the finals match.

In the boys’ under-18 division, another visiting team, Los Amigos of San Carlos, Negros Occidental City, won over the heavily favored Don Bosco Technology

Center (DBTC) via shootout, 4-3, in their final match.

Former Little Azkals member Shanden Vergara clinched MVP honors.
