Italian tops 7th stage

ITALIAN rider Andrea Guardini of Astana Pro Team recorded his 21st stage win in his Le Tour de Langkawi stint as he reigned in the seventh stage, a 202-kilometer route from Seremban to Parit Sulong, Malaysia yesterday.

Sixth stage top finisher Jakub Mareczko of Southeast-Venezuela fell to second place while Italian Andrea Palini of Dubai Pro Cycling clinched the last podium finish.

UnitedHealthCare Professional’s Tanner Putt dethroned Astana’s Laurens De Vreese of Astana Pro to become the most combative rider while Adam Md Adiq Husainie of Terranganu was crowned the Best Asian Overall.

Topdog Marcelo Felipe of 7-Eleven Philippines finished as the best Filipino stage winner at 17th place. Felipe stands 26th in the General Classification (GC) while maintaining fourth place in the Asian Rider Overall.

Dimension Data’s Reinardt JV Rensburg tops the GC with a total time of 25:48:29. UnitedHealthCare’s Daniel Jaramillo Diez and Astana Pro’s Miguel Lopez Moreno  are second and third, respectively.

Today’s 119-km Batu Pahat to Melaka Loop trek will be the eighth and last stage of the Le Tour.
