Mock polls: USC Law studes choose Duterte as president, Robredo as VP

MAJORITY of the 400 College of Law students of the University of San Carlos (USC), who participated in the mock elections held last Friday night, chose Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo as their president and vice president,  respectively.

Duterte had a total of 188 votes while Robredo had 111 votes through a manual voting, said USC College of Law Student Council President Danrey Cabataña.

“The purpose (mock election) is to help persuade voters not to be influenced by vote-buying and other incentives,” Cabataña told Cebu Daily News.

He said that this is part of  their effort to educate the voters.

The activity which was initiated by students of the USC College of Law started at 6:30 p.m. and ended at 8:30 p.m.

The results for the presidential candidates showed Duterte on top followed by Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago (70 votes), Mar Roxas (28 votes), Senator Grace Poe (16 votes) and Vice President Jejomar Binay (9 votes).

For the vice president, Robredo was followed by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano (97 votes), Senator Bongbong Marcos (83 votes), Senator Chiz Escudero (17 votes), Gringo Honasan (4 votes) and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV (3 votes).
