PHILIPPINE Navy Standard Insurance’s Ronald Oranza topped the Ronda Pilipinas Visayan Leg, finishing with 53 points despite a fourth-place finish in Thursday’s 41-kilometer Individual Time Trial fifth stage in Capiz City.
The former bike mechanic from Villasis, Pangasinan pocketed a total of P104,000.
LBC-MVP rider Rustom Lim prevented a Philippine Navy sweep of the Visayas leg by winning the last stage in 49 minutes and 13.92 seconds. He wound up third overall with 41 points while Rudy Roque (47 pts) finished second.
Special awarads went to Jan Paul Morales of Philippine Navy (Best Sprinter and King of the Mountain); Team Iloilo’s young gun Novedane Alejado (Local Hero) and Melobert Rico ( Inspiring Visayan rider).
The Luzon leg ill start on April 3 in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
