DEFENDING back-to-back champion Batch 1999/Southchoice Inc. got back their winning ways with an 84-73 trouncing of Batch 2009 last Tuesday night in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 15th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.
After suffering its first loss in two years at the hands of Batch of 1998/Kaking two weeks ago, Batch ‘99 has now tallied two straight wins tightening their grip on the No. 1 spot with a 7-1 (win-loss) record.
Mark Bukiron dumped 27 points to lead Batch ‘99, which also got 20 and 19 markers from Earn Saguindel and Albert Uy, respectively.
Harold James Tan came up with 31 points, 17 rebounds, two assists, one steal and a block; Joseph Baluyos scored 20; and Alfie Miranda Sy wound up with 16 markers for Batch 2009, which tasted its sixth loss in seven starts.
In the other game, team skipper Donald Anthony Ting fired 25 points to lead Batch 1995/New Millennium Hardware to a 63-49 trashing of Batch 2000.
Joseph James Yu added 10 points for Batch ‘95, which climbed to 6-1.
Oliver Boltron scored 15 points, while Pimco Pimentel and Lorenz Azarraga each 11 markers in Batch 2000’s seventh defeat against a solitary victory.
