For scoring another dominating win in the boxing ring, “Prince” Albert Pagara was commended by the local government of Maasin City, southern Leyte.

None other than Maasin City Mayor Maloney Samaco and Vice Mayor Effie Abiera Sabandal awarded the Plaque of Appreciation to the 22-year old Pagara (26-0,18KOs) during Samaco’s State of the City Address earlier this month.

The unbeaten power slugger, one of ALA Boxing Gym’s brightest bets for boxing superstardom, dominated Nicaraguan Yesner Talavera last February 27 en route to defending his WBO Intercontinental junior featherweight title via unanimous decision at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

The City of Maasin never fails to give recognition to Pagara and his older brother Jason for their big achievements in boxing. Last year, the brothers were also feted by the city government for winning their respective bouts.

The Pagaras were born in Maasin City and grew up in Barangay Lib-og before they settled here in Cebu to pursue their boxing career at the famed ALA Boxing Gym.

Albert Pagara is set to fight in San Francisco, USA this July in an international fight card to be put up by ALA Promotions International.

Jason (32-2, 23Kos) on the other hand, will see action on April 23 at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) against Mexican Miguel Zamudio in the undercard of Nonito Donaire’s title defense against Hungarian Zsolt Bedak.
