THE Cebu provincial government entered into an agreement with the Manila Water Company Inc. (Maynila Water) and Manila Water Philippines Ventures (MWPV) for a feasibility study that would identify other possible water sources in the province.
The agreement states that MWPV will shoulder the costs of the three-month study and submit it by July this year. The study will include current and future water demand requirements, a sanitation plan and transmission lines. The MWPV will tap the University of San Carlos Water Resources Center to help them identify possible water sources here.
The agreement will also allow both firms to develop a large scale water supply system that would help mitigate the growing supply and demand gap in the province which is expected to rise to more than 500 million liters per day by year 2020, Rivera said./Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
