THE Cebu Provincial Board approved the joint venture agreement between the Cordova municipal government and Metro Pacific Tollways Development Corp. For the proposed Cebu-Cordova bridge project.
PB Member Christopher Baricuatro, who submitted a committee report on the project, said PB approval is one of the requirements for the bridge project.
He said both parties also need to secure an environmental compliance certificate and clearance from the Philippine Reclamation Authority among other requirements.
Construction of the P8.5 kilometer bridge worth P27.9 billion is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2017.
Dubbed as Cebu and Mactan Island’s third bridge, it is seen to decongest traffic in parts of the Metro Cebu area.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy earlier signed the joint venture agreement.
Sitoy earlier said he wanted the bridge named in honor of the Señor Sto. Niño.
