FUR, feathers, and scales, Parkmall welcomed it all as it opened its doors to everyone who joined hands and paws to celebrate Pet Festival Philippines 2016, the grandest gathering of pets and pet lovers in the country. Ever since the mall opened its gates to pets in 2009, it has built and maintained its unparalleled reputation in being the best and only pet loving mall in Cebu by promoting responsible and intelligent pet ownership and vaccination through pet-centered events. The event kick started on April 21 and stretched across the fun-filled week until April 24.
Now on its second year, Parkmall hosted the 5th Cebu Dog Agility Cup organized by the Philippine Dog Athletics Association (PDAA), where groups of dog owners and their canine companions competed in being famed as the best in strength, speed, wit, and teamwork. Other highlights include Pawshionista Season 7, a pet fashion runway contest featuring pets and their owners wearing costumes corresponding to this year’s theme “Pets Around the World.” The entire mall was used to accommodate other pet-centered activities as well such as The Great Pet Adventure Race, Parkmall All-Breed Fun Match, Creative dry-grooming competition, My Pet’s Got Talent Video Contest, Aquatic Cebu Enthusiasts Aquascaping Competition, and Cebu Avian Society’s Bird Fun Match. If owners just wanted to unwind, 70% of the mall is open space, allowing pet owners and their companions to take a leisurely stroll along the exhibits participated by pet clubs and pet stores.
Proceeds of the event will be used to aid the Island Rescue Organization (IRO), a non-profit organization that rescues and rehabilitates aspins and puspins before putting them up for adoption. This is done every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month as part of Parkmall’s regular Dog Walk. IRO has been the mall’s partner in all of its pet-centered events.
