Youngsters strut their stuff in summer workshop, fashion show

DO YOU want to give your children a creative outlet during their summer break? Enroll them in a modeling and personality development workshop.

We did just that for my daughter Mary Clareez, nephew Kevin Adrian, and my friend’s daughter Casre.

The workshop organized by Mami Jay Martinez started last March 20 at SM Cebu Trade Hall.

Included in the package were Personality Development and Fundamentals of Acting mentored by Eugene Ramirez, Creative Posing and Live Mannequin by Jonathan Carlobos, Basic Photography and Print Ads Modeling by Jed Aries Yu, Runway Modeling, and Pageantry Coaching by Janelle Lazo Tee, a co-host of “Wowowin.”

Besides undergoing training sessions and meeting new acquantainces, the participants were counselled on the values of punctuality, self-discipline, confidence and independence.

The culminating activity was a production titled “Top Model Philippines Workshop & Talent Agency’s Spring Summer Fashion Show 2016” held May 15 at SM Cebu Trade Hall Convention Center. It featured the collection of Rennie Brazaone, one of Cebu’s fast-rising fashion designers. The show was produced and directed by Mami Jay.

And now, even after the spotlight has faded, the workshop finishers would have already acquired life lessons as well as beautiful memories. A summer to remember indeed.

And who knows? Some of them may just pursue a modeling career someday. (Verna G. Tenerife)
