More than a kilo of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P1.68 million were confiscated during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City on Wednesday night.

Police also arrested Jovannie Quirante Llego, 26, when he handed 1.1 kilo of suspected shabu to an undercover policeman during the anti-illegal drug operation at past 6 p.m. at J. de Vera Street in Barangay Carreta.

Leia Albiar, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Central Visayas (PDEA-7) public information officer, said a team of PDEA-7 agents who conducted the buy-bust operation also confiscated four sachets of suspected shabu each weighing .25 grams from the suspect.

Albiar said the suspected illegal drugs confiscated weighed 1.2 kilos worth at least P1.68 million.

Albiar said they were checking into PDEA intelligence reports linking Llego to a convict in the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, who is suspected to be running a drug business in prison.

Llego is temporarily detained at PDEA-7 detention cell awaiting charges for selling and possession of illegal drugs.

Albiar also said that the PDEA-7 will intensify anti-illegal drug operations in the coming weeks.

Albiar also called on the public to cooperate with them in their anti-illegal drug campaign by reporting any illegal drug activities in their communities.

“We always reiterate this na wala gyud tay mabuhat na work if dili sila (community) mo-help namo. Ang public man gud ang nakahibaw sa ilang surroundings, sila may kaila sa ilang mga silingan (We will not be able to do work if the public will not cooperate with us. It is the public that knows their community).”/UP Intern Patrick Byron G. Gattoc
