A graduate of the state-run Cebu Normal University (CNU) topped the June 2016 Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE), according to a result released on Friday by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Bernard John Ezra IV Rafols Icamen topped the licensure exam given by the Board of Nursing with 87.20 percent. He shared the top spot with Melissa Castor Malong of the De La Salle University-Health Sciences Institute.
The PRC said only 6,183 out of the 14,184 examinees passed the Nursing Licensure Examination, which was held in the different testing centers in the country.
Seven other graduates of Cebu schools also landed in the top 10.
Three of them shared the 6th place after getting a percentile point of 85.80 percent. They were Camille Osias Cosare of the University of the Visayas-Mandaue City; Jose Paolo Larrazabal Garcia of the Cebu Doctors’ University and Anthony Wines Teves of Velez College.
Seven shared the 7th place, two of them from Cebu: Terrence Michael Villamor Cuyos (CNU) and Brittney Kindred Tek-ing Madrigal (Velez College), who both got 85.60 percent.
Athena Marie Abella Anog (CNU) and Ileana Orejudos Lim (Velez College) both received an 85 percent ranking to share the 10th place.
Icamen graduated cum laude last March and was the only one in the batch from CNU who got that honor, according to fellow topnotcher Cuyos.
Cuyos, 20, a native of Medellin town but who now resides with his grandparents in Barangay Kalunasan in Cebu City, said he had a relationship goal with his girlfriend that both of them as well as their classmates must pass the June 2016 NLE.
He said he was happy that not only had he passed, but he also landed at the 7th spot of the topnotchers.
But Cuyos said being one of the topnotchers was just a bonus, what is important is that he, his girlfriend Clavel Oracion and all their classmates from CNU all passed the exam. He said there were 41 graduates from CNU who took and passed the licensure exam.
