Omega’s Silvano falters

VERGILIO Silvano’s bid for redemption turned into an exercise in frustration as the Cebuano boxer lost anew to former tormentor Aston Palicte last Friday night in the Friday Fight Night card at the Philippine Navy Gym in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Palicte proved his previous win over Silvano was no fluke, flooring the Omega Boxing Gym stalwart with a right uppercut in the seventh round.

Duplicating his unanimous win over Silvano in their Nov. 13, 2015 showdown, Palicte snatched the IBF Pan Pacific Junior Bantamweight crown as he bagged his 21st victory spiked by 18 knockout wins.

Palicte only has two losses.

Chad Cañares, vice president of Omega Pro Sports International, said Silvano fought well until Palicte caught him with well-timed uppercut.

“Silvano was floored in the third round but came back strong and scored his own knockdown in the fifth. He continued pressuring Palicte but got hit with an uppercut while moving in,” relayed Canares.

Silvano absorbed his seventh loss to go with 21 victories—12 of them came by way of knockouts.
