THE 1988 Barakos and the defending champions 1985 Legends grabbed their second victories in contrasting fashion in Division 1 action of the University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference President’s Cup last weekend at the USC North Gym.
The Barakos got 30 points from Edmund Odulio to help the Barakos overcome the 1984 Knights, 70-54. Hanzel Fick added 14 markers while Raul Monterroyo pitched in 10 of his own. The Legends, however, snatched their second victory without even breaking a sweat after they walked away with a default win over the same Knights.
In other games in the same division, the 1986 Mighty Geeks won over the 1980 Chargers, 64-60. Francisco Matugas and Roque Amores proved to be an awesome duo for the winning side as they each tallied 12 to power the Geeks to the victory.
Finally, last conference’s runners-up, the 1993 Dragons authored a 65-53 win over the 1987 Bros. Christopher Manal paced Batch 1993 with 18 points while lefty big man Bong Eleazar added 15.
