SUNNY to partly cloudy weather lies ahead for Cebu as typhoon “Butchoy” (international name Nepartak) is expected to leave the country tomorrow.
Jomar Eclarino, weather specialist of the state weather bureau Pagasa, said Butchoy is headed to Taiwan.
As of 4 p.m. yesterday, Butchoy was located 160 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
It packs maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour while its gustiness is up to 240 kilometers per hour.
Cebu will still experience thunderstorm activities with isolated rain showers today as Butchoy enhances southwest monsoon.
“The winds will be moderate to strong while its waves will be moderate to rough,” he said.
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Cebu Station Commander Agapito Bibat said there were no canceled or suspended trips recorded as of 1 p.m. yesterday.
Butchoy is the second typhoon to enter the country after typhoon Ambo.
