A CEBU city councilor is challenging Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña to sell lots at the South Road Properties (SRP) at P200,000 per square meter or at P1 billion per hectare.
Councilor Joey Daluz III issued the challenge after City Legal Officer Joseph Bernaldez’s earlier announcement of Osmeña’s plan to dispose of 1.5 hectares of Pond F.
Daluz, who belongs to Team Rama, said he would support Osmeña’s plan if he would sell the SRP lot at P1 billion per hectare.
Daluz said the executive department would need to ask for authority from the City Council because it would be the first step to sell lots at the SRP.
“Ako. I will not preempt the mayor kanang pagbaligya niya (Pond F). Ang ako lang is tan-awon nato ang proposal because in my opinion is that SRP kinahanglan gyud ihatag sa private sector in way of selling most of the lands (I will not preempt the mayor’s decision to sell a part of Pond F. However, I need to see the proposal first because in my opinion, SRP should be given to the private sector),” he said.
He said that he is not objecting on the sale because this can also generate economic activity in the city, but he said he still needs to see the details.
Daluz said that if the mayor could sell a hectare for P1 billion, then he would support the plan.
“He boasted during the elections that he would sell it for P200,000 per square meter,” he said in Cebuano.
He said if the mayor would sell SRP lots at that price, then he would even convince his colleagues to support the plan.
