A road closure advisory was issued by Mandaue City Hall more than a week ahead of the Cobra Ironman 70.3 ASia Pacific Championship on August 7.

Among the roads to be closed are Ouano Avenue, A.Soriano Avenue, and D.M. Cortes Street.

The Mandaue Public Information Office stated that vehicles bound for Mandaue and Cebu City should take M.C Briones street and L.Jaena street.

Vehicles bound for Lapu-Lapu City and the Mactan Airport should take S.B. Cabahug St. to U.N. Avenue or take the L.Jaena Street, M.C. Briones Street, and U.N. Avenue for the duration of the Ironman Triathlon Race which starts at 4 am and ends at 2 pm.

As for tricycles, the Mandaue PIO recommends that tricycles from Looc bound for Mandaue and tricycles bound for Looc from Mandaue should take C. Ouano St., up to the U.V. traffic light then head back to their destination.

Tricycles from Umapad and Opao bound for Mandaue and vice versa should take G.Ouano St., up to Tita Guapa before heading back to their destination as well.

Tricycles from Labogon and Paknaan bound for Mandaue and vice versa have been advised to pass P. Burgos St., turning right from Zamora St., then left from Avancena St., and another left turn from P.Burgos St. toward their destination.’

Cebu has been the venue of the Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines since 2012. The event offers a cash prize of $75,000 USD and 30 age-group qualifying slots for the upcoming 2017 Ironman 70.3 World Championship.
