2 cops, BuCor employee die on Good Friday Puerto Princesa shooting

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Two police officers and a Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) worker were shot dead in Barangay Irawan here on the evening of Good Friday, April 3.
Residents attending a wake in the area said a confrontation initially broke out between the police officers and several bystanders at 9:40 p.m.
The officers reportedly left the scene but later returned with backup, leading to another confrontation that escalated into gunfire.

The fatalities were identified as Police Staff Sergeants Ryan Cris Cabaña and Jayson Fernandez, both assigned to the Puerto Princesa City Police Station 2 (PS-2), and Jerson Ojario Talon of BuCor.
Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Director Police Colonel Cristine Tabdi has ordered a thorough investigation and a manhunt operation to identify and apprehend the suspects.
She also directed PS-2 commander Police Major Ray Aron Elona to begin a case buildup and intensify operations.
A Special Investigation Task Group has been formed to focus on the case.
