Hawak Mo Ang Beat: Uncovering the ‘mystery’
CEBU CITY, Philippines—A song that’s been blasting on the streets and on the internet in the Philippines holds a little mystery.
While everyone’s been associating “Hawak Mo Ang Beat” with the viral dancer, “Pitik Queen” Ian Mark Kamangkang, the person behind the beat stays in the shadows.

The man behind it is a French musician, Sylvain Amazir Hernandez, best known as DJ Mogo.
The DJ is now residing in the Philippines after marrying a Filipina.
After gaining so much online traction, along with applause, came allegations that DJ Mogo used AI to produce the song.

In an interview with Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, DJ Mogo clarified that the track isn’t AI-made, saying he kept it simple to reflect his emotions.
He added that the sound blends Leyte’s cha-cha and Budots, and that the song first started in French before his Filipina wife helped refine it.
“The musicality came, and the beats arrived, the words arrived. I did use some very high-standard software. I used, of course, electronic software, which helped to create the beat,” he said.

With this clarification, he added that for now, he will keep the singer’s identity a secret.
Maybe by the next beat from DJ Mogo, we will be able to identify the singer.
Any guesses?
