Isuzu PH official says vehicles are perfect for Cebu’s natural beauty, bustling city life

After seeing the versatility of the Isuzu mu-X sports utility vehicle and D-Max pickup during the Isuzu 4×4 Action Playground Cebu City leg last week, an Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) official said the company’s hot-selling duo should be a perfect fit for the streets of Cebu.

Both vehicles showcased its off-road capabilities in IPC’s third run of its famous event at the SM City Cebu open parking lot last Aug. 12 to 14. The first and second editions of this event this year were held in Manila and Iloilo, respectively.

The playground featured extreme obstacles such as the articulation ramp, 40-degree transverse ramp, and the 30-foot Thrill Hill.

Test drives were made open to the public to experience the off-road performance of the mu-X 4×4 LS-A and D-MAX 4×4 LS variants.

Isuzu officials and members of the local motoring media were among the first to try the vehicles on the obstacles.

According to IPC senior vice president Arthur Balmadrid, the blend of Cebu City’s island living feel and urban sophistication is what makes the city one of the most appealing places in the country. It’s also one of the best places to own an Isuzu vehicle.

“[Cebu’s] proximity to natural beauty provides the perfect balance to its bustling city life. This means vehicles like the Isuzu mu-X SUV and Isuzu D-Max pickup are the ideal choices for Cebuanos as both models can comfortably navigate urban settings as well as being highly capable of taking on the great outdoors,” Balmadrid said.

Also present during the event was Emmanuel Aligada, president of Isuzu Automotive Dealership Inc., who, along with other IPC executives, experienced first-hand the variety of driving obstacles of the Action Playground.

The event also had a special 30-percent discount that IPC offered on genuine Isuzu parts and accessories as the company’s way of showing its appreciation to loyal Isuzu customers who helped make Cebu one of the strongest markets for the Japanese company.

The mu-X 4×4 LS-A, which is equipped with Isuzu’s 4JJ1-TC (HI) 3.0-liter common rail direct injection engine with a Variable Geometry System (VGS) turbocharger, is rated to produce 163 Ps (160 HP) at 3,200 rpm and 380Nm of torque at 1,800-2,200 rpm. An available five-speed automatic transmission that boasts a sequential shift function is matched to this engine.
