A HAND grenade was found outside near a chapel in Tabada St., Barangay Basak San Nicolas in Cebu City at past 6 pm Monday.

The grenade was placed inside a plastic container and left beside the chapel, PO3 Jessi Tañola of the Mambaling police precinct said.

“When we arrived, the tanods were already there but they were also hesitant since it was a grenade. We checked it and we confirmed that it was really a hand grenade,” he said.

A bomb disposal unit arrived at the scene at 7 pm and brought the grenade with them.

“Based on my assessment, the owner could just be a resident in the area. Maybe he’s confused what to do with it, whether to surrender it or what. So maybe he just left it there,” Tañola said in Cebuano.
