Cebu Parklane International Hotel ushered in the Christmas season last November 23 with a ceremonial Christmas tree lighting led by its general manager Cenelyn Manguilimotan.

The event was graced by board member Miguel Magpale.

This year’s theme, “A Christmas Miracle,” focuses on the true gifts of Christmas: peace, hope, joy and love.

The hotel’s lobby is adorned with garlands and ornaments in red, white and silver, and the giant Christmas tree at the center is stunning and magnificent yet eco-friendly because it is made of more than 10,000 cardboard boxes of used tissue rolls. Surrounding the tree are angels that tell a story.

Each angel on the Christmas tree bears a name of the donor of one vial used for chemotherapy for a child battling cancer. One of the highlights of Parklane’s celebration is its partnership with the Cancer Warriors Foundation Inc.–Cebu chapter, through the project “Be A Warrior, Save An Angel”. The program aims to raise awareness on childhood cancer and the painful journey that the child and their families go through day to day.

The Cancer Warriors Foundation’s thrust is to F.I.G.H.T. — Facilitate increased awareness and understanding of childhood cancer; Initiate programs and activities that will inspire and bring joy to the kids with cancer; Generate support and proactive involvement of various sectors; Help ensure that poor and impoverished children will have timely access to diagnosis, treatment and medicines; and Take the lead in building and strengthening linkages and encouraging resource. Since the launching of the project last September, the hotel was able to raise P100,000 cash for the children under the foundation’s care. The money was turned over to the foundation during the tree-lighting ceremony and will be used to purchase chemotherapy vials.

Cebu Parklane International Hotel continues to live up to its commitment of being a hotel in Cebu that stands for Cebu by supporting community projects.

“We have a role in the community, and that is to care and share. The partnership with Cancer Warriors Foundation Inc. doesn’t end just here. The management is planning to come up with a sustainable project to support the foundation,” said Manguilimotan.

Cebu Parklane International Hotel is still accepting donations at P250 and P400 each, equivalent to one chemotherapy vial.
