Gwen elected as IAPP-Philippines chairperson

Cebuana lawmaker and Deputy Speaker Gwendolyn Garcia is the chairperson of International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace-Philippines.

Her election was announced in a post on official Facebook page Cong. Gwen Garcia on Wednesday evening.

According to the post, Garcia was unanimously elected to the post and is also the first chairperson of IAPP.

Based on the information from the Universal Peace Federation website, the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace is a worldwide association of parliamentarians, which provides a forum to bring in experience and wisdom to bear in the search for solutions to our world’s problems.

Garcia’s appointment was formally announced by former House Speaker and Co-Chair of IAPP International, the Honorable Jose de Venecia, Jr. and was witnessed by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and Dr. Chung Sik Yong, Regional President of UPF Asia.

Also present during the announcement were former Congresswoman Gina De Venecia, Cong. Leopoldo Bataoil (AIPP Philippines President), Congressman Christopher Toff de Venecia (AIPP Philippines Vice President), Congressman Bebot Abellanosa 2nd District of Cebu, Congressman Anthony Bravo of Coop Natcoo Party List, Congressman John Bertiz of ACTS-OFW Party List and Congressman Harlin Abayon of AANGAT TAYO Party List.
