Gov’s Cup Finals series Friday

ALL is set for the two title series in the 2017 Cebu Governor’s Cup Under-21 Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament.

Minglanilla and the Dalaguete AgriSaurs will begin their best-of-three championship showdown in the South Division on Friday at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.

The North Division Finals pitting Mandaue City and the Consolacion Sarok Weavers will start on Saturday at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

To ensure the smooth staging of the two championship series, lawyer Ramil Abing, executive director of the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC), met with the representatives of the four contenders yesterday.

“We are urging the teams concerned, especially the host teams, to make the necessary arrangements. They should see to it that all are handled well like the mop personnel, gameclock, shot clock, lightings, security personnel and medical team,” said Abing.

Abing announced that Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III will be gracing the Division Finals.

Game 2 of the South Division Finals will be on June 25 still in Dalaguete, while the second game of the North Division Finals will be on June 26 in Consolacion.

If necessary, Game 3 of the South Division Finals will be on June 27 in Minglanilla, while Game 3 in the North Division Finals is scheduled on June 28 in Mandaue.

Winners in the Division Finals will battle for the overall crown, which will start on July 4.

The Governor’s Cup Finals will still be a best-of-three series. Homecourt advantage will be determined through drawing of lots.

If needed, Game 3 of the Governor’s Cup Finals will be held at the Cebu Coliseum.
