TEACH them while they’re young so they can grow as champions and possibly become the next Cebuano Olympian.
This is what the Cebu Junior Olympics is trying to underscore when it returns for its second monthly competition Friday afternoon at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Last month’s competition drew at least 500 pupils from the Abellana National and City Central School who competed in various sports such as gymnastics, swimming, athletics, arnis, chess, taekwondo, badminton, volleyball, dance sport, table tennis, sepak takraw, softball and dancesport.
“Expect more exciting and ecstatic 300 participants (from last month) because they want to do better,” Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) chairman Edward Hayco said.
Hayco added that the gold medal winners in the previous months can join and will be ranked so they can compare their performances but will no longer be given medals.
The winners in each month will be competing in the yearly championship, which is expected to be held this December.
