‘Unexpectedly Yours’ The movie Robin Padilla couldn’t say no to

THIS week, Robin Padilla returns to the big screen with his sometime reel and real partner—the Megastar Sharon Cuneta.  Showing no signs of stopping, with his infamous bravado and loyalty, Padilla said that he had to momentarily halt two films under production for “Unexpectedly Yours,” saying, “Basta si Ma’am (Sharon Cuneta) at Star Cinema, go tayo diyan.”

In an intimate meetup with the Cebu entertainment press, the Philippines original “Bad Boy” shared his excitement that almost 16 years since their last film, their onscreen tandem is back armed with a good and heartfelt project.

An important message the film, which is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, wants to send to its viewers is the beauty of second chances.

Padilla said the project was too good to pass up that he didn’t mind being the replacement of Gabby Concepcion, adding that tweaks in the story were in done to suit to his character.

It’s been 16 years since their last project, what was it like on the set?

“Yung first day namin, tawanan lang kami nang tawanan.

Magaan lang ‘yung pelikula, it’s more realistic.”

Their differing political alliances also made things on the set more interesting. “Siyempre dilaw siya, Rody Duterte naman ako. Marami kaming napag-uusapan katulad ng mga kabataan,” Padilla said.

The actor had nothing but praise for their young co-stars, Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto.

Asked if fans will see a kissing scene between him and Cuneta, Padilla quipped, “Ay, hindi ako papayag na wala.”  Grateful for the opportunity of doing “Unexpectedly Yours,” the actor said he is now set to continue doing his passion projects.

“After nito then itutuloy ko muna ‘yung ‘Del Pilar’ at tsaka ‘yung ‘Bad Boy 3.’
