Dream matchup

GLOBAL Cebu FC advanced to the finals of the Philippines Football League (PFL) after coming out with a 3-2 (aggregate score) victory against FC Meralco Manila in the second leg of the semifinals last Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The win set up a colossal matchup between rivals Global Cebu and Ceres Negros after the latter beat Kaya FC Makati, 3-1, in its own semifinal affair at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod.

The finals between Ceres Negros and Global Cebu is slated December 16 at a still to be determined venue.

Curt Dizon of FC Meralco made a goal early against Global Cebu’s keeper Patrick Deyto to tie the aggregate score at 2.

But Global Cebu’s striker Rufino Sanchez netted one in the 85th minute to ice the win.

Global Cebu took the upper hand after ending Leg 1 with a 2-1 score against Meralco Manila.
