P416K worth of ‘shabu’ seized; drug suspect nabbed in Talisay bust

TALISAY CITY, Cebu, Philippines — Suspected shabu worth at least P416,000 was confiscated while a drug suspect, whom police described as a high value target was arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City.

The Jaclupan operation happened three hours after an anti-illegal drug operation in the city led to the death of a drug suspect and the seizure of suspected shabu.

Danilo Briones, 33, was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Jaclupan at past 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, said Police Captain Alejandro Batobalonos, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit chief, in an interview with CDN Digital.

Batobalonos said that they conducted the operation after receiving reports of the alleged illegal drug activities of Briones.

He also said that the suspect had been linked to Willie Sabella, who is allegedly a drug personality in the city and a cousin of Jerome Labitad.

Labitad, on the other hand, is the primary suspect in the ambush of the group of San Fernando Mayor Lakambini “Neneth” Reluya last January 22 in Talisay City.

Batobalonos described Briones as the man that Sabella entrusted his drug operations in the city.

He also said that Sabella had been one of their targets in their operations but he managed to escape.

Briones was detained at the Cebu Provincial Police Detention cell in Sudlon, Cebu City, pending the filing of charges./dbs
