CEBU CITY, Philippines – The family of Thesa Marie Ygay, the 14-year-old girl whose body was found dumped inside a septic tank in Danao City, have started to express concerns on their security.

Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas, director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO -7), said that Ygay’s family reportedly received threats after her body was found in their school’s septic tank in Barangay Cogon Cruz, Danao City on Monday, April 8.

“Now, we received reports that the family of the victim was threatened so we will check on that. So, if threatened basin naa lang siya (suspect) sa Danao City,” Sinas said.

Police has identified security guard Jessie Medequillo, 34, as suspect in Ygay’s killing.

Medequillo remains at large and is considered “armed and dangerous” by the police.

Sinas said that police trackers coming from the Danao City Police Station, Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), and the Regional Intelligence Division (RIID) are now after the suspect.

“We’re doing a follow-up on the areas where we (Medequillo) went. We already sent three tracker teams to look for him and identify his whereabouts,” Sinas said. /dcb
