CEBU CITY, Philippines — The City of Talisay Traffic Operations Development Authority (CTTODA) already started on Monday, August 19, the clamping of vehicles that were illegally parked on the sidewalks.
But CTTODA chief Jonathan Tumulak said that they are yet to consolidate the number of vehicles that they clamped in the last two days.
“The penalty for illegal parking is P500. If you are clamped, that’s another P500,” Tumulak told CDN Digital.

If the owner of the illegal parked vehicle is found with other traffic violations, said owner will have to first settle his previous violations before he will be allowed to retrieve his clamped vehicle, Tumulak added.
The clamping of illegal parked vehicles was implemented a month after they conducted massive information dissemination. Tumulak said that CTTODA enforcers have been going around the city to announce through the use of a public address systems its implementation.

Talisay City’s Anti-Illegal Parking Ordinance was passed in 2012 yet, but this was never strictly implemented in the past, Tumulak said.
CTTODA started the strictly enforce traffic laws with the assumption of Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr. in July to address the concerns on traffic buildup in the city and ensure the safety of road users. |dcb
