Family to mall: Pay bills, no suit

THE father of the six-year-old boy who fell from the upper ground level of SM City Cebu Tuesday night won’t be pressing charges against the mall management as long as they pay for his child’s medical expenses.

“They promised to help. We only spent for beverages and milk,” Engr. Raul Horca said.
The child was rushed to the Cebu Doctors’ Hospital and is scheduled to undergo surgery tomorrow.

“He only needs an operation for his jaw and wounds,” Horca said.

No head injury

In a statement, SM City Cebu said the boy continues to be conscious and initial tests showed no head injury.

“As of this morning, the six-year-old boy who was rushed to Cebu Doctors’ Hospital last night continues to be conscious and tests conducted so far show no head injury. SM is assisting the boy’s family in ensuring that all necessary tests and examinations are conducted to assess the boy’s condition after the fall,” the statement said.

The boy was running and failed to notice the glass panel, causing him to fall from the mall’s upper ground floor.

Paramedics from the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) team arrived and took the boy to the hospital.
