CEBU CITY, Philippines — Police chiefs in at least 10 municipalities and cities in Cebu province or those under the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) have vacated their posts or were reassigned to go back to school.
Police Colonel Aladdin Collado, CPPO chief, told reporters this afternoon, September 27, 2020, that with this situation these police stations in several municipalities and cities under the CPPO had to undergo a revamp with the concerned police chiefs being called to go back to school as part of their requirement for promotions.
The most affected were the municipality and city chiefs and some positions in the administrative offices of CPPO.
Among the municipalities and cities whose police chiefs were reassigned included Police Major William Homoc of Minglanilla Police Station; Police Lieutenant Colonel Clarissa Gabutan of Carcar City Police Station; Police Lieutenant Colonel Emilie Santos of Bogo City Police Station; Police Lieutenant Colonel Janet Rafter of Toledo City Police Station and other police chiefs of San Fernando; Barili; Cordova; Catmon and Medellin Police Stations.

As of today, Collado said he had assigned some deputy chiefs in these police stations to be able to man the personnel and continue the operations and regular duties.
“Kulang po tayo ng mga officers dahil yung iba nagschooling. Pero ginagawa natin is binabalance lang natin tung police doon sa needs sa area… Hinihintay nalang po natin yung mga karagdagan na officers na maibibigay sa amin, kasi may mag gagraduate nadin po sa schooling so malalaman nalang po natin siguro within this week kung malalagyan natin yan, pero sa ngayon po under manageable situation pa naman,” said Collado.
(We lack officers right now because some of them went schooling. But we are doing our best to balance the police needs in the area…We are just waiting for more officers that will be given to us because there are other police officers who have already graduated from their schooling. So we learned about this that this will be done within the week but for now we are under a manageable situation.)
Collado said that some policemen of the police stations and offices of CPPO were assigned to take up double tasks while waiting for policemen that would replace the vacated positions.
Collado assured that despite their current situation, they were able to properly balance their tasks as mostly it was more of supervisory tasks to be able to continue the work in the area./dbs
