LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu—The mandatory wearing of face shields here will be implemented only in selected areas such as in malls and public transportation.
This was divulged by Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan on Monday, March 15, 2021, just days before the implementation of this policy is set.
“Because there are some who find it difficult to breath, which is very understandable,” said Chan.
Chan said, though, that he will still discuss this plan with concerned agencies.
The mandatory wearing of face shields will be implemented starting this Thursday, March 18, 2021.

The date of the implementation was originally scheduled last March 11 but was moved to give more time for the public to get face shields.
Chan said they are now discouraging violators from paying a fine if caught and instead is encouraging them to undergo community service, wherein they will have to fill a sack with garbage from the city.
Should they choose to be fines, the penalty is pegged at P1,000.
Chan said the City is now starting to distribute free face shields to barangays (villages) for distribution to their constituents.
