CEBU CITY, Philippines— Another Cebuana belter is spotted!
This time this talented young singer is not on the stage, but on the sidewalk in Barangay Labangon here, busking with her godfather.
Ka-Siloy Boyjumel Ejercito, 30, just got off work and decided to eat out near his place with his workmates on Thursday, March 18, 2021, when he was surprised upon learning that the singing in the background was actually live.
“While I was waiting for my food to be served, I never noticed that the song that I was listening to was LIVE and not from a radio or whatever,” he said.
It was at the moment he found out that the powerful voice was coming from a young lady just outside the diner.
With her old sound system, this young sidewalk belter still managed to wow the customers with her vocal runs and whistle tones.

According to Ejercito, the young belter goes by the name Rizza Mae, a tenth-grade student and a resident of Pasil, Cebu. Accompanying Rizza Mae is her godfather, whom she calls “Papa.”
Ejercito had many things planned for the duo for that night like giving them a big tip or raising funds to buy a new sound system set for them.
But he knew that if he shared this story online, a lot more can extend their help like maybe give Rizza Mae’s talent a chance to be discovered.
“The post went VIRAL! As of today (March 23) [it has] 213 shares on FB, 48k VIEWS, and 5,533 likes on Tiktok,” he said.
Two of her best pieces performed that night was Regine Velasquez’ “Pangarap Ko Ay Ibinign Ka,” and Morissette Amon’s Akin ka Nalang.”
