CEBU CITY, Philippines — It’s all system’s go for June 19’s “Engkwentro Uno”, the maiden fight card of boxing startup, ARQ Boxing Promotions, at the Cosonsa compound in Mandaue City.
Chelito Caro, ARQ Boxing Promotions promoter and ARQ Sports director, told CDN that they did not leave a single stone unturned to make sure their maiden boxing fight card would cap off successfully.
“Everything is set. The venue is 90 percent ready for the official weigh-in and the fight card. We’re just adding a few finishing tourches and the rest are already set,” said Caro who is also the secretary-general of the VisMin Super Cup.
The fight card will be held in a bubble setup to ensure the safety and health of the boxers, trainers, and officials.
He also promises Cebuano and Filipino boxing fans fireworks in their eight-bout fight card which features ARQ Boxing Stable’s banner boxer April Jay Abne, who will put his unbeaten record of five wins and two knockouts at stake against the much experienced Royder Lloyd Borbon of Sultan Kudarat in the main event.
They will have an eight-round slugfest in the 115lbs division. The 22-year-old Abne will face Borbon, an experienced journeyman with a record of 6-9-1 (win-loss-draw) record with six knockouts.
“Expect the bouts to be very exciting and action-packed especially in the main event featuring Abne (April Jay) and Borbon (Royder Lloyd). Our boxers in ARQ Stable have not fought for quite a while, so they are very excited to get back into action and in the ring again. So it’s their time to showcase their skills to the boxing fans,” said Caro.
The rest of the undercard bouts pit Berland Robles (ARQ Boxing Stable) versus Kevin Smith Nemenzo (Lapu-Lapu City), Ian Abne (ARQ Boxing Stable) vs. Marvin Campo (RWS Stable), Zandro Librador (ARQ) vs. Rexcar Auxillo (Big Yellow Boxing Gym), John Paul Gabunillas (ARQ) vs. Maurino Agum (Big Yellow), Yeroge Gura (ARQ) vs. Steven Noblefranca (Talisay City), Arniel Cañete (ARQ) vs. Christopher Caburog (Big Yellow), and Rodex Pala (ARQ) vs. Vicente Casido (Cebu City).
“We will broadcast the fight card on Saturday via livestreaming on our official Facebook page, ARQ Boxing Promotions. We also have a livestreaming on Powcast Sports. We promise boxing fans a wonderful fight card that will surely entertain them,” said Caro.
