CEBU CITY, Philippines – Investigators in Consolacion town in northern Cebu are eyeing personal grudge as the possible motive behind the killing of a refilling station worker that took place in broad daylight.

A still unidentified gunman around 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, shot Ramir Bruno Bantolio outside the refilling station, located in a subdivision in Brgy. Nangka, Consolacion, where he worked.

Bantolio, 36, is a resident of Brgy. San Vicente in neighboring Liloan town. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Initial reports from Consolacion police showed that a still unidentified gunman approached Bantolio while the latter was outside his workplace.

Based on witnesses’ accounts, the suspect fled the scene ‘on foot’ after he fired a single bullet on the victim’s back. They also told police that they learned Bantolio recently got into an altercation with someone he ‘personally knew’ before he was killed.

The police, however, requested not to divulge further details as investigations are still ongoing.

Consolacion is a first-class municipality located approximately 19 kilometers north of Cebu City. /rcg
