MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — Mandaue City continues to prepare for the vaccination of minors, whose ages are from 12 to 17, while waiting for the go signal from the Department of Health.

Dr. Debra Maria Catulong, medical officer of the Mandaue City Health Office, said they had been conducting orientation to all their vaccinators and vaccination post supervisors about the side effects that they would need to look out for, counseling that would need to be given to parents, among others.

Catulong said they had also prepared the health assessments and consent forms for minors and their parents.

She said that the DOH had yet to give the final guidelines on where the vaccination would be held, if it would be in the hospital or it would be in a non-hospital setting.

She said they already planned to partner with the government and private hospitals in the city.

She added that they would conduct vaccination at the city’s five vaccination centers if the DOH would allow a non-hospital setting.

Catulong said that 24,000 minors in the city have already registered for COVID-19 vaccination.

The Department of Health on Wednesday, October 27, said the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination for minors will start on Wednesday, November 3.
