‘Let Mama Mary guide you to Jesus Christ’

CEBU CITY, Philippines – Faithfuls here are told to always have faith and to look up to Mama Mary in times of uncertainty and adversity.

“We know no matter how sinful we are, or troubled we are, naay inahan nga mutabang kanato and di mubiya, ug will look for us. And when she finds us, she will lead us back to Jesus Christ,” said Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Midyphil Billones.

Billones was the presider of the Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral on Wednesday, December 8.

 

The prelate also told devotees of a story of a man who found hope through Mama Mary when he was about to give up, and later on, spread the faith to others.

“Usahay tungod ning pandemya, we feel overwhelmed by a myriad of problems with different manifestations – financial, emotional, physiological and uban pa mga problema. (Mga problema nga mo) tulod palayo (kanato) sa mahal na Diyos. Masuko kita. Mangluud kita and then we fall into the trap of toxic and guilt,” said Billones.

“Kaning adlawa, we celebrate the solemnity. It’s not an accident in history nga atong nasod placed under the protection and pangama ni Mama Mary,” he added.

Billones also said faithfuls should be reminded to give life a chance by seeking help and hope from Mary.

“God loves you and me. And He is sending His Son to be our Savior. In order to come to us in pure form, it passed through by receiving prevenient grace through Immaculate Concepcion,” he explained.    / rcg
