Eight hundred inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) danced to the song ‘Kaya Ko ang Pagbabago (I can achieve change)’ for the Pantawid Pamilya Caravan last Sept. 28.

The nationwide jingle sung by Yeng Constantino and Quest is part of the campaign of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for its conditional cash transfer program.

DSWD Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat said the ‘Kaya Ko ang Pagbabago’’ campaign shares stories of positive change in the lives of Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries.

She said it recognizes the Filipino families’ indomitable spirit and compassion, qualities that Filipinos are known for.

In the 4Ps program, selected families living below the poverty line are given monthly subsidies as long as the children attend school and mothers go for regular medical checkups in barangay health centers.

The campaign “empowers the beneficiaries to have an improved well-being through the convergence of programs and services of the DSWD and its partner agencies like the Department of Education and Department of Health, ” said. Jabagat.

Based on DSWD-7 records, 124,589 households in Cebu are Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries.

CPDRC dancing inmates were tapped to promote the campaign in the region, said Phoebe Jen Indino, information officer of the 4Ps program.
