22 teams vie in ‘Goal For Jacob’

Twenty two football squads will clash today in the inter-company division of the “Goal For Jacob” Football Festival For A Cause at the Cebu International School in Pit-os, Cebu City.

Organized by Leylam Football Club, the one-day, nine-aside event hopes to raise funds for 10-month old Baby Jacob who is suffering from a birth defect called club feet, a congenital deformity involving one foot or both.

The football festival is aiming to raise P200,000 for Baby Jacob’s major surgery scheduled before the month ends.

The teams that will compete in the men’s inter-company division are the following; Team NCR, San Miguel Brewery, Leylam FC, Primary Structures, Funai Electric Cebu Inc., Stream FC, Boys Konek, Accenture, Lear FC, Cebu Mitsumi Inc., NKC, PAREF-Springdale, Thirsty, CIS, Lexmark and Makoto Metal Technology.

In the women’s division, six teams that will see action are NCR, Leylam FC, Accenture, Cebu Mitsumi Inc., NKC and Lexmark FC.

The festival will kick off at 8 in the morning until the afternoon. Baby Jacob and his parents, who are employees of Leylam Shawarma will watch the competition.

It was earlier reported that the event will be held at the Don Bosco technology Center field, but  CIS offered  the use of the school’s football field for free.
