MANDAUE CITY, Cebu—The local government of Consolacion in Cebu hopes to become a drug cleared town soon.
Consolacion Mayor Teresa “Nene” Alegado said she hopes that the town would be declared a drug cleared and that barangays would be more active in their anti-illegal drugs campaign.
Consolacion now has seven drug-cleared barangays after two other barangays—Cabangahan and Polog—were declared cleared by the Regional Oversight Committee on Drug Clearing of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) last Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
The five other barangays are Panoypoy, Lanipga, Panas, Sacsac and Lamac.
Alegado who was very happy with the development, said that cooperation and sustainability of the program
are important to obtain the drug-cleared status.
“Mao man gyud nay trabaho karon sa atong militar ug kapolisan ang pagbantay, kita mokooperar, dili ta magpasagad lang nga sila lay atong sugoon. Matag tawo nga sakop sa usa ka munispyo o constituent, naa gyud siyay papel. Madato o mapobre, mabata o matiguwang naa gyud siyay papel,” said Alegado.
“Naa pay 14 nga atong e-workout. Magpadayon ang programa, magpadayon usab ang pagsuporta sa munisipyo,” she added.
A drug-cleared barangay means that the barangay have accounted all its drug dependents and drug dependents are able to complete the intervention programs given by them.
The mayor is also encouraging schools to include in their program, the effects of using illegal drugs.
